Statistics provided by online tourism platforms show that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, long-distance travel in the country will become a popular choice for tourists and the accelerated demand for parent-child and graduation tours will become the mainstay for travel during the Dragon Boat Festival.

The Dragon Boat Festival holiday only lasts for three days, but many tourists have combined compensatory and annual leave to extend their travel time and distance.

Among the users of Tuniu"s Dragon Boat Festival tour, 34% chose to travel for 4 days or more, and 32% and 21% chose to travel for 2 days or 3 days.

“More users choose long-term tourism, with destinations including Yunnan, Xinjiang, Gansu, and Qinghai, which are mainly suitable for summer vacation and getaway from summer heat. With the temperature gradually increasing now, everyone hopes to find a place with more suitable temperature and pleasant scenery for vacation and outing,” said Wang Tengfei, staff of Public Relations Department of Tuniu Tourism.

The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is closely followed by the summer vacation, which has released a concentrated demand for parent-child and graduation tours.

“Most of the travel groups are parent-child travel groups. At present, the registration for Dragon Boat Festival is almost full,” said Wu Jinhu, Domestic Manager of Zhangjiagang Guotai International Travel Agency Co., Ltd.

“According to statistics, nearly 47% of tourists chose parent-child travel and graduation travel, which accounted for a relatively high proportion in the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. They include preschool children, children under 6 years old, and those aged 18 to 22 who participated in the college entrance examination and college students,” Wang Tengfei, staff of Public Relations Department of Tuniu Tourism, said.

In terms of outbound travel, coastal island destinations have become a popular choice. The price of outbound tourism products is slightly higher than the same period in previous years, especially in the European direction, due to the incomplete recovery of air capacity and local tour guides. The cost of travel to domestic destinations is basically the same as in previous years.
